The Facade

The facade to my building will help to advertise itself to the city. Located along the river, it has impressive presence within Brisbane and could possibly become a local landmark. This will a building people will want to take photos of, not just from. Thereby, it has an interconnected relationship of role reversal with the city.

Being as the building is a photography studio, it makes sense to showcase these photographs publically and so images will be displayed upon the facade. However, this is also the perfect place to take the photographs from, and if the facade is split according to the rules of thirds then that means there will be two floors behind the facade offering the different levels for different photos.

This idea was to have a flat led screen which displayed images, while the rest of the building was a sort of "blobitecture" futuristic shape which housed the other rooms and spaces. You can see the two people taking photos behind the facade.

This next idea was if you were to split the facade into the 9 segments and have each one a different space.

This would then be covered by the LED screen. However, I also had the idea of making the LED screen see-through at night so that you could see all the inner workings of the building, thereby giving it a new character and making it more dynamic at night, especially if one of these spaces.

This reminded me of the music video for a little less conversation by Elvis Presley.
Here each person is within their own space and they intermittently flash on and off to reveal the person inside or a silhouette.
