Technologies

As this theme group is about using new technologies to drive a buildings design, I had a look at some new technologies and how they could be related to photography in order to push this building forwards.

An LED wall would be useful within a gallery space to give it a new, high tech, interactive feel.

This is the stage design from the U2 world tour. It involves segments of LED screens which then separate and surround the stage.

This is a building facade which also acts as a screen. This is similar to what I wanted to happen on my buildings facade.

This is called a Dobpler Wall and is created by Stig Skjelvig. It is an interactive wall which produces an electronic shadow as you walk past. It reminds me of the negatives in a roll of film.

This is called see-through concrete, although it isn't entirely see-through. It has all the characteristics of concrete while being partially transparent. It creates a silhouette effect when a person is stood close by. Some versions have optic fibres embedded within them.

This was created on a 3D printer. This could be incorporated into this studio and create 3d photographs.

This is an interactive wall which changes colour when you touch it. Kids running their hands along it will have bursts of colour in all directions.

This is a 3D display which could provide a unique way of viewing photographs in little pods within the gallery space.

This is a type of electrified smart glass which can change its opacity automatically. In this photo you can see the darkened panels and the clear panels. This would be useful in lowering the amount of light (and therefore heat) entering a building. Or to provide different scenarios for taking photographs.

This is hardly new technology, but it is new for buildings. This gives a good example of how existing technologies can be used in new ways. A convertible roof on a building that electronically sensed temperature could be an alternative to an airconditioner.

Even touch screens can provide a new take on a building. Touch screen doors or window controls. Touch screens to change the glasses opacity etc.

Holography can be used to create interactive scenes which could then be photographed. Or possibly displayed.
